It's a busy weekend at theaters, with four new flicks contending for your precious movie dollars. Two of them tell thrilling tales of love in the South (though in very different fashion), John McClane returns for another round, and there's also a new animated adventure about good guys and bad guys in space.

'Beautiful Creatures'

Based on the best-selling series of novels by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, this fantasy tells the tale of two young people falling in love and uncovering some very strange secrets about their small town in the South.

In this animated story set on the planet Baab, a dashing astronaut and his geeky brother must switch roles when the bad guy sets off his evil plan.

'Safe Haven'

The latest Nicholas Sparks ('The Notebook') adaptation is a romantic thriller about a woman who moves to a small North Carolina town and falls for a local store owner.
