Do You Cast Your Newspapers Aside for eReaders? – Survey of the Day
Apple's release of their iPad 3 set the tech world abuzz last week. While the tablet has many functions, it is often used as an electronic reader, and its competing devices are eReaders, like Amazon's Kindle and Barnes & Noble's Nook.
According to a new survey from Harris Interactive of 2,056 adults there is plenty of demand for all these tablets, as eReaders are becoming more and more popular. Twenty-eight percent of Americans now use eReaders, almost double the 15 percent who said they used them when Harris posed the same question just seven months ago. Additionally, 13 percent plan on buying one of the devices over the next six months.
There is very little difference in eReader usage among different age demographics. In fact, 18- to 35-year-olds (30 percent) and those over 67 (28 percent) use the devices at about the same rate.
