On Monday, the remaining four couples all danced two routines plus a "relay" Cha Cha Cha -- all vying to get into next week's finals -- and the taped pieces before the second dance showed us a little more about each contestant, just in case you need to know that stuff before tossing your votes around.

J.R. hurt his ankle pretty badly and therefore wasn't the shining star he's been in weeks past, but there were still some excellent scores to be had by the other dancers.

So who got them?

  • Ricki and Derek

Ricki's finally got her shoulders where the judges want them, and she and Derek delivered a fun and festive Samba, earning their first perfect 30 of the season. Score: 10 10 10

  • Rob and Cheryl

    Argentine Tango

Rob's been a bit of a dark horse for a few weeks now, and this routine showed just how far he's come. The Argentine Tango has lots of lifts, requiring a strong male partner -- and Rob more than proved his mettle. Score: 9 9 9

  • Cha Cha Cha Relay

    All four couples

Each couple tackled one part of the dance, and the judges then ranked them 1-4 (best to worst) and awarded 10, 8, 6 and 4 points, respectively. Those scores were added on to whatever the dancers had already gotten for the evening. "Bonus points," if you will.

Here's how the judges ranked their relay dances:

    1st: Rob and Cheryl
    2nd: Ricki and Derek
    3rd: J.R. and Karina
    4th: Hope and Maks
