The Tennessee Titans appear ready to give their star running back the contract he wants, and make him the highest-paid running back in NFL history. Now all Johnson has to do is end his holdout and show up to training camp.

While the team says they're ready to finalize the contract extension, Johnson reportedly said that neither he nor his agent has received the offer. "Maybe they talked, but I guarantee we never received any offer," Johnson told The Tennessean.

Johnson ran for 1,364 yards last year, and had more rushing yards over the past three seasons than any other back. Because Johnson makes up such a huge chunk of the Titans' offense, some commentators believe this is a worthy investment for the team to make. Yet others warn that Johnson would step out of bounds if he expects to get paid big money like a star quarterback.

And more pressing questions loom, too: After all this time off, can Johnson just walk back onto the field and be the same top-caliber running back?
