Major League Baseball's regular season is winding down, with several divisional and wild-card battles approaching their boiling points simultaneously. Today we'll take a look at the races in the American League.

In the A.L. East, New York blew a 10-game lead over Baltimore, and now both teams go into the stretch run with 80-62 records. In the Central, the White Sox lead Detroit by just one game, and out west it's a relative blowout, with Texas leading Oakland by three games.

As for the wild card, it gets even more interesting, with five teams battling for just two slots. The A's have a strong grip on the first wild card, with their 82-60 record. The fight for the second starts with the Yankees and Orioles (whichever team finishes second in the East), and trailing just behind them are the Rays at 77-65 and the Angels at 77-66.
