Teen Arrested for Making Violent Twitter Threats Before George Zimmerman Verdict
The George Zimmerman case obviously had a lot of people talking, but the words of one teenager landed him in jail.
A 15-year-old boy in Chicago was arrested after he posted a threatening tweet shortly before the verdict in the Zimmerman trial was reached:
If Zimmmerman free imma shoot everybody in Zion causing a mass homicide, and ill get away wit it just like Zimmerman.”
The teen, identified on Twitter as @mark12394995, pulled the tweet, but not before it generated a lot of comments and police were tipped off from people all over the country.
A police spokesman said, “There is no credibility to the threat. He has no weapons and no access to weapons. You can’t make statements like that because people will take it serious, and you have to. Law enforcement has to take it seriously."
The teen has been charged with disorderly conduct.
The boy is the latest person to wind up in hot water after making questionable comments on social media. A Texas teenager wound up in jail after threatening to blow up a school while he was engaged in a Facebook argument about an online game.
