Tampa Bay Rays Bring a 20-Foot Python Into Clubhouse Because That’s Just How the Rays Roll
The Tampa Bay Rays may be in a dogfight to make the playoffs, but they decided to get some help from a different kind of animal.
The Rays brought a 20-foot python into their clubhouse prior to the team’s home game against the Seattle Mariners on Thursday.
Manager Joe Maddon brought the slithery creature, named Asia, into the clubhouse as a way to jumpstart his squad following a disappointing road trip. He said, "A snake is a risk taker and a wellspring of ideas. They fit into the Rays Way. Asia was a big hit today.''
The Rays had their share of big hits, as well, proving Asia may have been the good luck charm they needed. They handled the Mariners easily in a 7-1 victory.
