It took some time for the local authorities in Carson City, Nevada, to realize that Walter Samasko Jr. was dead, but when they did, they found $7 million worth of gold coins and bars in his home, presumably some of which he would swim around in from time to time.

Mr. Samasko actually died in May, but his body wasn’t discovered until some of the folks living near his house alerted the city about the terrible stench (from the decaying corpse) coming from his abode. Once the recluse’s home was breached, the man who had passed away, and all of his accumulated wealth were found.

There was so much gold on the premises, with gold bars and coins coming from all over the world, that city officials had to use a wheelbarrow to get it all of it out the house. Can you imagine the shock on the faces of the hosts of the popular A&E show 'Hoarders' if they ever happened upon such a valuable and unexpected stash?

According to reports, Mr. Samasko hadn’t held down a regular job since 1968. He was able to survive off the money he made from a few investments, but even so, no one had any idea about the treasure he amassed inside his house. Since Mr. Samasko left no will, the gold will most likely go to his first cousin, who is probably thanking her lucky stars right now that she had such an odd (and cartoon-duck-like) relative.
