Pizza Hut Manager Fired for Refusing to Open Store on Thanksgiving [VIDEO]
More and more businesses may be opening their doors on Thanksgiving, but one man who refused to clock in now has no job.
Tony Rohr was fired from his job as a general manager at Pizza hut in Elkhart, Indiana because he told his superiors he would not open the restaurant on Thanksgiving:
I said, 'Why can't we be the company that stands up and says we care about our employees and they can have the day off?'"
Rohr, who started working at the eatery as a cook over a decade ago, had been ordered to open the restaurant. After he told his bosses he would not open, he was ordered to sign a letter of resignation.
Rohr balked at signing the letter, choosing instead to pen his own letter, explaining his decision:
I am not quitting. I do not resign, however I accept that the refusal to comply with this greedy, immoral request means the end of my tenure with this company. I hope you realize that it's the people at the bottom of the totem pole that make your life possible.”
Pizza Hut had no comment on the matter.
Rohr says his family totally backs his actions.
