Depressing Study Reveals Rooting for a Bad NFL Team May Be Bad for Your Health
When your favorite football team loses, it may make you sick to your stomach. Now, research shows it may make you sick to your rapidly-expanding stomach.
A study of 24 cities looked at what people ate on Mondays after local NFL teams won and lost, compared to what they devour on a normal Monday.
The results? When a team lost, saturated fat consumption jumped 16%, whereas it tumbled 9% after a team won. In short, that means cities with losing teams suck down more fat and more calories (which may also mean people in Cleveland should think about relocating).
The fat and calories fans gobble up tend to remain steady in cities without an NFL team or when NFL teams don’t play.
Moral of the story: we recommend rooting for the 49ers and get set for a season of fresh salad, fruit and cottage cheese.
