On Friday night, the Florida Marlins became no longer, officially changing their name to the Miami Marlins at a ceremony at the team's new unfinished ballpark.

The name change came as part of more sweeping changes to the club, which also also involved the unveiling of a new logo, uniforms, and colors.

Marlins owner and art dealer Jeffrey Loria said that he was behind the new, livelier colors (including bright orange), which evoke visions of the ocean and the area's gorgeous sunsets.

The redesign got mixed reviews from critics. Some say this is just a sign of a new era for the team, to go along with the franchise's attempt to make a big splash in the free agent market by going after stars like Albert Pujols and Jose Reyes.
