Jacob and Sophia Top List of Most Popular Baby Names — What Else Made the Top 10?
Jacob and Sophia are not a couple in the latest movie adaptation of a Nicholas Sparks novel, but they may be soon at this rate.
Those just so happened to be the two most popular baby names in America in 2012, according to the Social Security Administration. It’s the 14th consecutive year Jacob topped all boys names and the second straight year Sophia led the way among girls.
Among boys, Major appears to have taken a “major” leap as one of the fastest-growing names, jumping 505 spots to 483.
Arya is a moniker more and more girls are getting. It’s the fastest-growing name for girls, soaring 298 places to 413. Of course, it's one of many unusual names parents are going for these days.
