Jacksonville Jaguars Use Defense to Beat Baltimore Ravens, 12-7, on ‘Monday Night Football’
Maurice Jones-Drew ran for 105 yards, and Josh Scobee's four field goals led the Jacksonville Jaguars past the Ravens 12-7 on Monday Night Football. The Jacksonville running game, led by Drew, helped the Jaguars (2-5) control the ball and the clock. Jacksonville held the ball for 36:15 to Baltimore's 23:45.
Thanks to a solid Jacksonville defense, and an ineffective offense, the heavily favored Ravens (4-2) were unable to muster any points until Joe Flacco threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Anquan Boldin with 2:02 left in the game to narrow the score to 9-7. After Scobee tacked on a 51-yard field goal with 1:43 left, Flacco had a chance to guide his team to a game-wining touchdown, but he was intercepted by Drew Coleman to seal the win for Jacksonville.
Flacco finished with 137 passing yards and a touchdown. The Baltimore offense struggled mightily, gaining only 146 net yards on the game. Jaguars rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert was not any better than Flacco. He managed just 93 passing yards on the game and was sacked four times by the aggressive Baltimore defense.
The two teams combined for 16 punts on the night.
