Inspiring Teenager Who Was Shot Five Times Goes to His Prom
A teenager left wounded in a shooting got to feel like a typical high schooler Friday when he attended his prom.
Back in October, Miles Turner was shot five times after he threw himself on his cousin after a gunman fatally fired bullets at the cousin.
The wheelchair-bound Turner, decked out in a white tuxedo and wearing his class ring, went to the prom for Chicago’s Leo High School this past weekend – the same day he left the rehab facility where he’s been since the shootings.
The whole family was ecstatic Miles could take part in this rite of passage. His mother said, “I feel on top of the world. I’m just so happy that my son is here to even go on this prom.”
Miles isn’t done with amazing accomplishments, either -- he says he plans to walk at his graduation next month.
