Which Fast Food Restaurant Has the Worst Drive-Thru Service?
Consumers expect their meals quickly when going through a fast food drive-thru. But according to an annual report by QSR Magazine, you won't get that sort of service at Burger King. In fact, it came in dead last in a ranking of seven fast food restaurants for drive-thru service.
According to the report, it takes an average of 201.33 seconds (about three minutes, 20 seconds) to get food from a Burger King drive-thru. That may seem like barely enough time for your fries to get cold, but it's forever when compared with the 129.75-second (about 2:10) serving time at Wendy's, which ranked first on QSR's list.
And the bad news for Burger King doesn't stop there. QSR also says it has the worst accuracy rating of the restaurants it surveyed. In other words, there's only an 83 percent chance that Burger King will get your order right; others performed markedly better, like Chick-Fil-A's 92.4 percent accuracy rating.
So why the lag? Fast food menus have gotten increasingly complicated as they try to compete with fast-casual restaurants like Five Guys, Chipotle and Panera Bread. Accordingly, drive-thru times have gotten worse each year.
Still, Wendy's was the only restaurant to improve its service time from last year. However, its current time is still slower than the 116.2 seconds it took in 2003.
Here is QSR's full list of fast food service times, which also includes a regional chain called Bojangles:
