One man celebrated along with the St Louis Cardinals this weekend after their World Series win made him more than $300K richer.

On September 12, when the Cardinals' season was all but lost, one anonymous bettor placed two bets at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, one of the Cardinals winning the pennant and one on the team winning the World Series, the second at 999/1 odds. These high-risk wagers proved fruitful and he took home a total of $375,000.

"Looking back, I would've been a little more cautious about it," said Jay Rood, an MGM vice president.

Rood said that the bettor was so confident in the Cardinals that he tried to bet more than $250 each on the two bets, but the casino "scaled it back" to limit potential losses.
