Drunk Driver Will Pay the Price for Boneheaded Plan to Run Over Police Officer
A man found himself with some Whopper-sized trouble when police stopped him for drunk driving at a Burger King drive-thru.
Robert Addie, 39, of Ypsilanti, Michigan, has been sentenced to 2-5 years in jail for an incident last winter in which he tried to run over an officer when cops approached him at a Burger King drive-thru for drunk driving.
Restaurant workers called police because Addie was raising a ruckus. While officers talked to him as he sat in his vehicle, Addie decided to flee the scene, causing one of the boys in blue to tumble to the ground.
Addie’s plan turned out to be a dud. After a very brief chase, officers pulled him over. As it turned out, he had a blood alcohol content of .25.
The officer Addie almost ran over sustained minor injuries.
