Single men who don't want to stay that way had better make sure they're bringing home a paycheck. According to a new poll, 75 percent of women said they probably wouldn't date a guy who's unemployed.

It's Just Lunch, a dating service for professionals, recently conducted a survey that found three-quarters of women would be "unlikely" to date an unemployed man, with 33 percent saying they absolutely wouldn't. Just under a quarter of survey respondents said a man's employment status didn't matter.

But lest you think this is all about the Benjamins, the ladies insisted it wasn't. Instead, they said they were interested in "dating someone who is engaged in an activity," adding that working is a beneficial activity for men.

"Not having a job will definitely make it harder for men to date someone they don't already know," said Irene LaCota, a spokesperson for It's Just Lunch. "This is the rare area [because] compared to other topics we've done surveys on, women's old-fashioned beliefs about sex roles seem to apply [here]."
