Researchers in Britain say they have found a way to charge cell phones with urine.

The scientists managed to charge a phone “by putting urine through a cascade of microbial fuel cells. They have generated enough electricity to send text messages, browse the internet and make a brief phone call.”

There’s still a ways to go before actually fully charging your phone is as commonplace as texting while walking down the street, though.

One scientist working on the technology said it’s simply a clever way to get power, noting, "The beauty of this fuel source is that we are not relying on the erratic nature of the wind or the sun, we are actually re-using waste to create energy."
