Britney Spears’ ‘I Wanna Go’ Helps Her Shatter Billboard Record
In case you were wondering, Britney Spears is definitely back. And now that her latest single, 'I Wanna Go,' has taken the top spot on the charts, she has bragging rights to the longest span of number one hits on Billboard’s Pop Songs listings.
The pop singer has had six chart-toppers, and Billboard reports her run breaks records with a span of 12 years, seven months and four days.
MoJoe Roberts, program director of Pop Songs panelist KHOP, told the magazine, “Over the last 10 or more years, Britney Spears has had her ups and downs. But, every time she drops new music, it is an event for the format.”
Spears' number one songs include the aforementioned 'I Wanna Go' as well as ‘…Baby One More Time,’ ‘Oops!…I Did It Again,’ ‘Toxic,’ ‘Womanizer,’ and ‘Circus.’
As if that wasn't enough, she also became the first woman ever to have six number one album debuts when her latest effort, 'Femme Fatale,' was released in March.
