Aerosmith Offers Clip of First Song From New Album [VIDEO]
It wasn't all that long ago that it seemed like Aerosmith might never record again -- but they're back in the studio, working on their first album of new material in a decade, and they're giving fans an early behind-the-scenes look at the process.
The band's latest in-studio video offers a glimpse of what appears to be one of the new songs in progress, with guitarist Joe Perry playing a blues riff while vocalist Steven Tyler works out a beat on the drums.
The duo goes on to explain their back-to-basics approach for the sessions, with Perry boasting that the band is eschewing the use of a click track -- essentially a headphone metronome that helps the drummer keep time. "The first song that we put together yesterday, we didn’t use a click track and it does not move out of range," says Perry. "It’s unbelievable, it’s scary… so locked, it’s unbelievable."
"That’s cause you’re playing with me!" quips Tyler, quickly corrected by Perry, who clarifies, "Well, we’re playing off each other."
It wouldn't be Aerosmith without some friendly squabbling, right? Let's just hope they keep the 'friendly' part first and foremost, at least long enough to finish the new record.
