5 Fun Things to Take With You to the Beach
Everybody knows about sunscreen and beach chairs, but what if you want to take your beach time to the next level?
With temperatures climbing into the 90s (in some areas, the 100s) this month, now is the perfect time to buckle down and get serious about planning the perfect trip to the beach.
But before you panic, check out our five hot tips that are guaranteed to make your weekend getaway the best it can possibly be. (Seriously, though, don't forget the sunscreen!)
A Metal Detector
We can't guarantee that you'll find Curly's Gold, but you will have a heck of a time trying. Sure you're going to look a little like that guy with the metal detector but who do you think is having more fun? That guy with the metal detector or that guy with the book? Thought so.
A Beach Tent
Everybody likes to have a little fun in the sun, but sometimes it's possible to have too much of a good thing. Just because you're at the beach all day, doesn't mean you can't take a retreat from all that heat. Just bring along a beach tent and you'll be made in the shade for the entire day.
A Boogie Board
The beach is all about relaxing, so why stand up to surf when you can just as easily catch some waves lying down on your boogie board? These light, foam body boards are a cinch to carry and almost as easy to ride - not to mention a fun activity for the kids.
A Kite
When was the last time you flew a kite at the beach? Kite flying is without question one of the most underrated beach (and life) activities in the world. All you need is a little wind and you're in business. Plus it's poetic if you do it at dusk.
A Giant Beach Ball
Bigger is better, especially at the beach. When you bring along a massive beach ball, you'll be the envy of all your fellow beach-goers. Just try not to hit anyone with it. The ocean is filled with enough salty tears. No need to add any more. Oh, and if you really want to go big and bold, you could always go in on this 8-foot giant beach ball, which is just as awesome as it sounds.
