Nina Rhodes-Hughes was with Robert F. Kennedy at Los Angeles’ Ambassador Hotel in 1968 when the presidential candidate was assassinated by Sirhan Sirhan.

In an interview with CNN Monday, Rhodes-Hughes claims that the FBI “twisted” her initial statement to make it conform with the official account that there were eight shots fired that night, when she says she told investigators there were more like 12 or 14. Rhodes-Hughes also believes that Sirhan Sirhan did not act alone.

“What has to come out is that there was another shooter to my right,” Rhodes said. “The truth has got to be told. No more cover-ups.”

Last year, Sirhan’s lawyers asked that their client be released from prison, where he is serving a life sentence for the murder, alleging a conspiracy by the authorities involved with the case.

Rhodes-Hughes spoke out on what she witnessed in 1968 because current California Attorney General Kamala Harris “parroted” the incorrect FBI information about the shots fired in filings related to Sirhan’s lawyer’s recent motions.

Five years before Robert Kennedy was killed his brother, President John F. Kennedy, was assassinated. That killing has also long been fodder for conspiracy theories. Watch Rhodes-Hughes on CNN below.
