Voided Trade of NFL Player Jerome Harrison Led to Brain Tumor Discovery

After being traded to the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this week, running back Jerome Harrison was undergoing a routine physical when doctors discovered a brain tumor. The discovery both nullified the trade from the Detroit Lions and may have saved Harrison’s life. He reportedly underwent surgery on Friday to remove the tumor.

Doctors ordered an MRI after Harrison complained about recurring headaches. Harrison is expected to miss the rest of the season, but doctors believe that he could continue his career in football afterward.

The news has raised questions again about how and when the NFL monitors players for head injuries. Harrison is fortunate it was caught when it was.
