The Olympics are a time to celebrate the athletes in the world. Instead, we find ourselves talking about their use of social media. Should athletes be using these sites during big events? The Olympics are being held halfway around the world. In order for us to keep up, we go to the internet. Many athletes share things with their fans via Facebook, twitter, or even just an Instagrammed photo. Unfortunately, it has some in hot water.

US women’s soccer goalie Hope Solo is in trouble after going after announcer, and former player, Brandi Chastain. Solo didn’t like Chastain’s comments about the team, and berated her on twitter.

Lolo Jones has also had some twitter trouble. Her tweet about America and guns has people very upset with the former sweetheart. The Olympic committee has already disqualified several athletes for poor use of social media, so many athletes are putting themselves at risk.
