Shaq — President Obama Destroyed Rajon Rondo’s Confidence
According to Shaquille O'Neal, a barb from President Barack Obama wrecked Shaq's Boston Celtics teammate Rajon Rondo's confidence, not to mention his jump shot.
Shaq writes in his upcoming book 'Uncut' that Obama and the Celtics were both at the same fundraiser in March. During the event, Obama turned to smooth-shooting Celtic veteran Ray Allen, before pointing to Rondo, and then said "Hey, Ray, why don't you teach this kid how to shoot?"
While the quip cracked the rest of the team up, Rondo, who is known to have an ugly jump shot, appeared "devastated" and "embarrassed" by the presidential diss.
"The next day Rondo shot the ball horribly," Shaq writes in 'Uncut' "He stopped taking shots after that. He's so sensitive. I think it was a real jolt to hear the outside perception of a basketball fan who happens to be the president of the United States. It messed with his mind. I'm sure of it."
For what it's worth, Rondo missed every three point shot he took in the regular season and playoffs, subsequent to his run in with the president.
