They haven't even wrapped up their current tour with Sara Evans, but that isn't keeping Rascal Flatts from looking to the future as they prepare their eighth album. In fact, the multiplatinum country stars are already in the studio.

The news was broken by Flatts bass player Jay DeMarcus, who took to Twitter Tuesday morning with the announcement "Another day tracking with the Flatts!!! New album comes out next spring!!!"

DeMarcus' followers naturally wanted to know more, and he happily obliged with photos of the sessions -- including glimpses of singer Gary LeVox, producer Dann Huff, and session guitarist Tom Bukovac -- and a few tidbits of information about the album, which will follow last year's 'Nothing Like This.'

According to DeMarcus, the band is writing some new material and "producing a few of the songs ourselves this time" -- a change from their last five albums, which were all produced by Huff. 'Nothing Like This,' their debut for Big Machine Records, has spun off three top 30 singles, including the number one hit 'Why Wait.'
