He’s one of the most powerful people on the planet, but President Barack Obama is just like every other American with an average American family. According to an interview in PEOPLE, he watches TV and tries to keep his girls away from Facebook, just like any parent. Like we needed an interview to figure that out.

The President and First Lady Michelle Obama sat down for a quick interview during a busy holiday season and dished a little bit about what life is like after hours at the White House. The first thing they said was there is no Facebook.

The President said it wasn’t difficult to keep Malia, 13, and Sasha, 10, off the social networking site. He said their theory is, “Why would we want to have a whole bunch of people who we don’t know knowing our business?” He also said, “We’ll see how they feel in four years.”

As for TV, the Obamas do share some family time in front of the tube. Although, the Obama women prefer ABC’s ‘Modern Family’ to the darker shows the President enjoys. The Commander in Chief is on his own when he wants to spend some spare moments watching HBO’s ‘Boardwalk Empire’ and ‘Homeland.’

Fortunately, they’ve finally got a DVR, so he can record his faves for watching when the girls aren’t around.
