ABC News

A shooting at an Ohio high school had local residents on lock-down for a short period on Monday morning.

The chaos reportedly started around 7:30 a.m. at the 1,100-student Chardon High School, about 30 miles outside Cleveland. Local news footage showed parents whisking children away from buildings as ambulances waited outside, and a spokeswoman for Cleveland’s MetroHealth System said a medical helicopter was dispatched to the scene.

School superintendent Joseph Bergant II said the culprit is in custody, but he doesn’t yet know the extent of the injuries. Civil Deputy Erin Knife of the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office also doesn’t know how many victims were involved, but multiple news reports said four students had been shot.
