Every year the MTV VMAs always have spectacular performances, crazy outfits and of course our favorite singers, but this year, the ceremony is adding some spice by adding a new category: Best Video With a Message.

According to MTV, it "celebrates the union between music and social activism, and highlights artists who created music videos that made us think about the world around us."

Usually, the VMAs are all about winners and only remembered for its raunchy material and crude jokes, but this year MTV is changing that up. Every day we see more and more news reports about bullying, the fight for LGBT rights and domestic violence. This shows how music can potentially make a change and educate those ignorant of these issues.

The nominees are Pink, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Eminem feat. Rihanna, Rise Against and Taylor Swift.

If you feel strongly about this category, watch the nominees below and vote for the “Best Video With a Message” through Aug. 16. The VMAs air Sunday, Aug. 28 on MTV.

Pink, ‘F—ing Perfect’

Katy Perry, ‘Firework’

Lady Gaga, ‘Born This Way’

Eminem Feat. Rihanna, ‘Love The Way You Lie’

Rise Against, ‘Make It Stop (September’s Children)’

Taylor Swift, ‘Mean’
