When it comes to grand theft auto, thieves seem to go for the largest vehicles possible.

Topping the Highway Loss Data Institute’s list of the most stolen cars of 2011 was the Cadillac Escalade. That behemoth was followed by the Ford F-Series 4WD and the Chevrolet Avalanche.

Here’s a look at the top 10:

1. Cadillac Escalade

2. Ford F-Series 4WD

3. Chevrolet Avalanche

4. GMC Sierra

5. Chevrolet Silverado

6. GMC Yukon

7. Chrysler 300

8. Dodge Charger

9. Hummer H2

10. Nissan Maxima

Interestingly, when it comes to what stolen cars are most likely to be recovered, they are all smaller cars. According to Lojack’s Third Annual Vehicle Theft Recovery Report, the Honda Accord, the Toyota Camry and the Honda Civic are three most likely stolen car models to be eventually returned to their owner.
