The Boston Red Sox traded a fan favorite and the New York Yankees solved the mystery of hitting R.A. Dickey on Sunday. Here's what's happening in Major League Baseball:

Boston Red Sox Trade Kevin Youkilis to Chicago White Sox

The Boston Red Sox traded veteran third-baseman Kevin Youkilis to the Chicago White Sox on Sunday for pitcher Zach Stewart and utility player Brent Lillibridge. Youkilis had been in danger of losing playing time to star rookie Will Middlebrooks, who began filling in when Youkilis, 33, went on the disabled list in May because of lower back issues. In a sign of the impending move, Boston manager Bobby Valentine yanked Youkilis from the game after he tripled in his last at-bat on Sunday. The Fenway Park crowd gave Youkilis a loud and long ovation.

New York Yankees Beat R.A. Dickey To Claim Second Subway Series Win of 2012

Robinson Cano's solo home run off Miguel Batista in the eighth inning on Sunday night gave the New York Yankees a 6-5 win over the New York Mets. Mets' starting pitcher R.A. Dickey came into Sunday night's game against the Yankees having thrown back-to-back one-hitters, but the Yankees touched him up for five earned runs in six innings. The victory gave the Yankees their second series win against the Mets in 2012. The Yankees lead the American League East by 2.5 games.

Tampa Bay Rays' Pitcher Joel Peralta Suspended

Tampa Bay Rays' right-handed pitcher Joel Peralta has been suspended for eight games for using an illegal substance on the baseball. Peralta was thrown out of Tuesday's start against the Washington Nationals on Tuesday after umpires, who were acting at the request of Washington manager Davey Johnson, discovered pine tar in his glove.

Play of the Week: Jim Thome, Philadelphia Phillies

The Philadelphia Phillies have had a trying season and veteran pinch hitter Jim Thome has been less than productive. However, his walk-off home run on Saturday delivered the Phillies a much-needed win over the Tampa Bay Rays and gave Thome his 13th walk-off home run, the most in MLB history.

Upcoming Series To Watch: Cleveland Indians at New York Yankees

Two American League contenders begin a three-game series on Monday, as Major League Baseball nears its all-star break. The Yankees used their best pitchers — Ivan Nova and CC Sabathia — in this past weekend's series against the Mets, so Hiroki Kuroda, Phil Hughes and Andy Pettitte must deliver for the Bronx Bombers. Trailing the White Sox by just a half-game, Cleveland needs its hitters, like Asdrubal Cabrera and Michael Brantley, to step up and help the Indians reclaim first place in the American League Central from the Chicago White Sox.

Fantasy Player to Add: Aramis Ramirez, Milwaukee Brewers

It was only a matter of time before Milwaukee Brewers' third-baseman Aramis Ramirez began to produce. Over his last eight games, Ramirez is hitting .412 (14-for-34) with an .824 slugging percentage. He has three homers and nine RBIs over that time frame. He could easily ride this hot streak into August.

Fantasy Player to Drop: Matt Harrison, Texas Rangers

With a 10-3 record and 3.24 ERA, Texas Rangers' pitcher Matt Harrison has had an incredible first-half. So why drop him? In addition to the left hip injury Harrison sustained while beating the Colorado Rockies on Sunday, there seems to be little chance that his second half can approximate his early numbers. Someone in your fantasy league must need pitching; it is time to sell high on Harrison.
