Minnesota Head Coach Jerry Kill Hospitalized After Sideline Seizure During Game

Jerry Kill

University of Minnesota Golden Gophers head football fcoach Jerry Kill spent Saturday night in a Minneapolis hospital after suffering a seizure on the sidelines during the waning moments of his team’s 28-21 loss to New Mexico State.

With 20 seconds left in the game and his team attempting to drive for a tying
touchdown, Kill suddenly collapsed on the sideline and was quickly surrounded by
medical personnel.

The 50-year old Kill has a history of seizures and has been on medication for several years to control them. After his collapse, Minnesota medical personnel quickly gave the coach medication to sedate him. Kill was on the ground for approximately 15 minutes before being removed on a stretcher.

Kill has twice before suffered seizures while on the sideline while coaching at the  Southern Illinois, once in 2001 and again in 2005.  In those two previous instances, he was back on the sidelines the next week.
