When thinking of the best place to celebrate winter, most of us don't automatically think of Michigan, but we should. Every year, the folks living in Curtis, MI, hosts the aptly named Curtis Winter Carnival, which falls on February 18th this time around.

Located in the beautiful Manistique Lakes region, the festival hosts a plethora of winter-related activities that will satisfy everyone in the family. Some people come for the ice fishing, snow and chainsaw ice sculptures, and sled races. Even though there may not be lots of snow this year, you can always enjoy the chili cook-off, bake sales and food booths strewn about, as well as a bit of frozen turkey bowling.

If you happen to be in Michigan’s’ Upper Peninsula this year, pull on your warmest mitts and drop by the Curtis Winter Carnival. There will be plenty of chilly (and chili) fun to be had by all, as well as some great munchies.
