This is shaping up to be a big year for Megadeth fans — not only do they have an expanded edition of the band’s landmark release ‘Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying?’ to look forward to, but there’s also a brand new studio album on the horizon.

During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, band founder Dave Mustaine discussed the new record, titled ‘Th1rt3en.’ It’s the band’s 13th studio album, but the name means more than that, according to Mustaine. He said, “I was born on September 13th; this is my 13th record. It just seemed like it was the right thing to do.”

Recording it wasn’t easy, given Megadeth’s busy touring schedule. Between satisfying concert obligations and figuring out each other’s schedules, the band only had two months to get it done. “Who were we kidding?” joked Mustaine. “But we did it. Man, we worked our butts off on that. I had some seriously long days. There were some days that I woke up at my computer, with an imprint on my face from sleeping on the keyboard.”

According to Mustaine, the album — which the band is targeting for a November release on Roadrunner — will include ‘Sudden Death,’ the track the band placed in ‘Guitar Hero,’ as well as their theme song for the Konami game NeverDead.
