Megadeth leader Dave Mustaine obviously lives by the motto "the show must go on."

After reportedly spending Tuesday in a hospital bed due to a neck-related injury, Mustaine and his band rocked Yankee Stadium in New York on Wednesday night along with fellow Big 4 bands Metallica, Anthrax and Slayer.

But prior to the concert, Mustaine dropped some heavy news: he needs surgery to fix the damage.

Neck problems are nothing new for Mustaine. In August 2008, the singer/guitarist wrote about being diagnosed with degenerative disk disease and arthritis in his neck.

Apparently, Mustaine's latest neck-related issue -- due to an injury he sustained on the recent Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival -- seriously jeopardized Megadeth's Yankee Stadium show. The band's 10-song set on Wednesday night included the single 'Public Enemy No. 1,' which can be found on the new Megadeth album, 'TH1RT3EN,' due Nov. 1.
