With new music to preview and two relatively new members in the band, the Smashing Pumpkins are scheduled to begin a 12-date U.S. tour in Los Angeles on Oct. 5.

The dozen concert dates are being described as a warmup to a big year of touring in 2012, which is when the Pumpkins will release their in-progress studio album, 'Oceania.'

In addition to hearing songs from ‘Oceania’ on the fall tour, fans can also look forward to classic and deep cuts from the band’s back catalog — which, coincidentally, will be reissued as remastered deluxe editions starting in the fall.

Aside from singer/guitarist Billy Corgan and guitarist Jeff Schroeder, the current Pumpkins lineup also includes drummer Mike Byrne (who joined in 2009) and bassist Nicole Fiorentino (a member since 2010).

'Oceania,' expected in early 2012, will be the first all-new Smashing Pumpkins album since 2007's 'Zeitgeist.'
