Judas Priest Discusses Life After K.K. Downing

Remember all that hoo-ha about Judas Priest retiring after their latest world tour? Don’t count them out just yet.

Speaking during a recent interview with Wave 100, Priest vocalist Rob Halford and guitarists Glenn Tipton and Richie Faulkner talked about the current state of the band – specifically, the injection of fresh energy they’re feeling now that Faulkner has replaced departing founding member K.K. Downing.

“In all honesty, he’s injected so much enthusiasm in the band, and I’m not overstating that — he really has,” said Tipton.”I think we’ve confused people by saying it’s not the end of the band. It’s not the end of the band, and we’re not saying we won’t do any more dates, and we certainly will do at least one album.”

What won’t Priest do any more of? Big world tours. As Tipton put it, “We won’t tour the planet again, so in a lot of areas this is the last chance to see Priest.”

American fans will have their chance to rock out with Judas Priest – maybe for the final time – starting October 12, when the U.S. leg of their tour kicks off in San Antonio.
