Jeff Bridges Returns to Music with New Self-Titled Album [VIDEO]
Jeff Bridges has been singing, playing guitar, and writing songs for years -- in fact, in the '90s, he even went so far as to release an album, 'Be Here Soon,' on his own label, Ramp Records. But it wasn't until he starred in 2009's 'Crazy Heart' that Bridges really had a chance to explore his musical artistry on the big screen.
Now, in a case of life imitating art (or is it the other way around?), Bridges is returning to record store shelves with his self-titled debut for Blue Note Records.
The album, which found Bridges reuniting with his 'Crazy Heart' soundtrack producer T-Bone Burnett and working with guest vocalists such as Rosanne Cash, Sam Phillips, and Ryan Bingham, features three tracks that were either written or co-written by Bridges. For the rest, he turned to ace songwriters like Stephen Bruton and Greg Brown.
"Music for me is like a weed that keeps springing up no matter how thick the concrete is," Bridges explains. "It somehow manages to work its way toward the light. I’ve been doing music since I was a young teen, and man, I’m really digging the way the weed has popped through this concrete."
