Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes came under fire for letting their daughter Suri, wear heels and makeup. Now, much less famous mommyish.com blogger Lindsay Cross, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, is taking a beating in the court of public opinion for admitting to letting her four-year-old daughter wear makeup.

We're not talking a little dab of lip gloss or a whisper-light swipe of blush. We're talking a full face, as Cross herself said her daughter wears product on her "eyes, cheeks, lips, the whole thing." It begs the question: how young is too young when it comes letting girls wear makeup?

Cross' admission has been met with plenty of criticism, with one person writing in response to her, "Please don't help your daughters fall into the 'pretty' trap so young." Child psychiatrist Dr. Herny Paul also cautions it can be an addictive behavior where kids can get hooked on "the pursuit of perfection."

Cross' daughter, who already sports a fashionable blonde bob, looks like she could appear on 'Toddlers & Tiaras.' What started out as a mommy and me-type ritual, with Cross allowing her child to watch her apply makeup, has now evolved into a process for both for holidays and events.

In an interview with 'Good Morning America,' Cross claims that "most people don't notice" since it's not extreme. When her daughter is asked why she likes makeup so much, she replies, "Because it makes me pretty."
