Farmers’ Almanac Predicts Horrific Winter Highlighted by Super Bowl Played After Vicious Snowstorm

Get your snow shovels ready.

The Farmers’ Almanac is out and is predicting a brutal winter that will feature a Super Bowl played after a nasty snowstorm.

The Super Bowl, slated for February 2, will be played in New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, marking the first time the NFL’s showcase event will be held in a cold weather environment (although, to be fair, Dallas was slammed by four inches of snow two days before it hosted Super Bowl 45 in 2011).

The almanac says the Northeast will be rocked by the storm, while the Midwest, Great Lakes and New England regions will also endure significant snow totals this winter. In total, about two-thirds of the US will be faced with a colder winter than normal.

Sandi Duncan, the Farmers’ Almanac managing editor, said, “We’re using a very strong four-letter word to describe this winter, which is C-O-L-D. It’s going to be very cold.”

Whether or not the almanac is on the money with its predictions remains to be seen, although it does claim it’s right about 80% of the time.
