Doug Flutie will be cheering hardest for the ladies on the sideline when he watches one of his former teams, the New England Patriots, play at home this year.

That's because Flutie's daughter, Alexa, will be making her debut as a New England Patriots' cheerleader this season.

The 23-year-old had been cut from the squad the four previous years, but she kept trying. Her dogged pursuit of an NFL career was reminiscent of her father, who made his mark on Sundays after toiling for years in the Canadian Football League because he was viewed as too small to play quarterback.

Alexa acknowledged that some people believe that she got the job because of her famous dad, but says she doesn't worry about that. "I've heard a couple people -- maybe comments online or people just talking about [how] I got it because of my dad," Alexa said. "…The cheerleaders have been absolutely great, they don't judge me in any way whatsoever."
