Do You Think Same-Sex Marriage Should Be Legal? — Survey of the Day
Gay marriage is in the news this week, with people on both sides of the issue scoring victories of sorts.
President Obama announced Wednesday he supports the right of same-sex couples marrying, making him the first president to take such a stand.
Obama's revelation came one day after voters in North Carolina passed an amendment that effectively outlaws any legal union that isn't between a man and a woman.
According to a new poll from Gallup, the country seems pretty divided on the matter.
Gallup asked 1,024 adults from around the country if they think marriage between same-sex couples should or should not be recognized by law as valid with the same rights as traditional marriage. Fifty percent for respondents said it should, whereas 48 percent said it should not.
