This week, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on the constitutionality of the individual mandate from President Barack Obama's health care overhaul.

The controversial mandate kicks in in 2014, and will require all Americans to have health insurance.

The court is expected to make its final ruling on the manner in June. But if it was up to the American public, the mandate would be struck down. According a Pew Research Center survey of 1,503 adults, 56 disapprove of the health care law’s provision that all individuals be covered by health insurance or face a penalty, whereas 41 percent approve.

As for the health care plan as a whole, Pew found that 47 percent approve of it, while 45 percent oppose it.
