Do You Still Tan Despite the Risks? – Survey of the Day

Tanning Survey

Various medical studies have found that tanning, whether it be done under natural or artificial light, can greatly increase your risk of skin cancer. If anyone’s a prime example of that, it’d be Patricia Krentcil. Despite this blatant fact, a new survey from the American Academy of Dermatology has found that younger people, in particular, are still embracing tanning.

Forty percent of the poll’s respondents between 18 and 29 have attempted to get a tan in the past year. Seventy-one percent of that demographic also agreed with the statement, “Sun exposure is good for your health,” and 25 percent of young adults admittedly were unsure if being exposed to the sun could cause wrinkles. (Psst. Medical research proves it can.)

But even still, many people out there, though aware of the risks, still frequent tanning beds and salons to get their perfect glow.
