Do You Care What Presidential Candidates Did in High School? — Survey of the Day
Earlier this month, an article in the Washington Post revealed that GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney bullied another student when he was at prep school and ultimately forced his victim to cut his long hair.
Now excerpts from a David Maraniss biography of Barack Obama, which will be released next month, paint a picture of the president as heavy user of marijuana during his days as a high school student in Hawaii.
But will these revelations matter in the 2012 election?
According to a new ABC News/Washington Post poll of 1,004 adults, they probably won’t. Seventy-five percent of the poll’s respondents said it is unfair to bring up what a political candidate did in high school.
Additionally, about 70 percent rejected the notion that a candidate’s teenage behavior says anything about his current character.
