She's had to deal with a lot of personal challenges over the last couple of years -- especially for someone so young -- but in her darkest moments, Demi Lovato has been impressively honest about her struggles.

Now that she's getting ready to promote her upcoming album, whose release caps a year in which she and her mother went to rehab, Lovato is continuing her revealing streak with an in-depth interview and gorgeous photo spread for ELLE.

The article, which appears in the magazine's September issue, finds Lovato offering a disarmingly frank perspective on the events leading up to her time away from the spotlight. Looking back on last summer's tour with the Jonas Brothers, which she left mid-run, she refers to herself as "out of line" and "ungrateful."

She also talks about the plane brawl she engaged in with one of her backup dancers, offering the following wisdom: "When you punch someone on a plane, enough is enough."

Lovato's as-yet-untitled third album, scheduled for a September 20 release, features her hit single 'Skyscraper,' which topped the iTunes singles chart and entered the top 10 of Billboard's Hot 100.
