Coheed and Cambria Bassist Michael Todd Arrested for Robbing Walgreens

Coheed and Cambria bassist Michael Todd was arrested Sunday in Mansfield, Mass., and charged with armed robbery and unlawful possession of prescription narcotics, according to authorities.

Todd's arrest came hours before his band was scheduled to open for Soundgarden at the Comcast Center in Mansfield.

Police in Attleboro, Mass., say a man in black shorts and a blue T-shirt asked to speak with a pharmacist at the town's Walgreens store on Pleasant Avenue around 1 p.m. Sunday.

The man showed the pharmacist a note that was on his cell phone. According to Attleboro Det. Sgt. Arthur Brillon, the note said the man "had a bomb and that he wanted pills."

Brillon said the robber left the Walgreens with about six bottles of pain pills. A man fitting the description was later seen by a witness getting into a cab, which authorities identified as being part of a company based in the town of Sharon.

Todd was arrested without incident by Mansfield police after he was identified as the suspect in the crime by the cab driver, the Walgreens pharmacist and surveillance video from the store, authorities say. He is being held at the Attleboro police station, and he is scheduled to be arraigned Monday.

Meanwhile, Coheed and Cambria will continue its tour without Todd. In a post on the official Coheed site, the band says Wes Styles — described as a longtime member of the Coheed family — will take over for Todd and that no tour dates will be canceled.
