Can Old Stars Be Rejuvenated with a New Team? — Sports Survey of the Day

In sports we look at athletes who stick with one team with a lot of respect. If they are getting towards the end of their career and still haven’t won that championship it’s not uncommon to seek a new home. Earlier this week, longtime Seattle Mariner star Ichiro Suzuki was traded to the New York Yankees. He had been with the Mariners since 2001, but is getting close to retirement. At 38 years old, the Mariners gave him the opportunity to seek a championship.

Ichiro isn’t the first veteran player to switch teams toward the end. In baseball, Larry Walker spent most of his time in Colorado, but sought out a championship by signing with St. Louis. In basketball, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen left their teams to go to Boston in order to pursue a ring. Many football players move to high ranking teams in order to get to the Super Bowl.

Is it possible for a veteran player to enjoy a resurgence by joining up with a new team that has a better shot at the playoffs?
