Australian Student Sues High School for Giving Her a Lousy Education

What’s a student to do when she can’t get into her desired college program? Sue her high school, of course.

Eighteen-year-old Rose Ashton-Weir of Australia says her high school didn’t provide an adequate education for her to gain admission into the law program at the University of Sydney, so she’s filed suit.

She recently testified that an English teacher at her school criticized her for using words that were too long, which made her doubt her ability to write essays and caused her grades in the class to fall. Her mother, who’s also suing the school, says Rose didn’t get proper instruction in math, either.

A school representative disputes those claims and says Ashton-Weir was poorly organized, missed a lot of class, and had been placed on ”internal suspension” a number of times.
